| The directional counseling program is composed of 20 hours. The majority of this time is spent in conference with the employee in one-on-one coaching sessions; however, a portion of the time is spent meeting with management personnel in background meetings, debriefing sessons and telephone conferences. Most employees meet with us at least once a week in order to maximize this opportunity and to ensure the greatest likelihood of success. The program consists of: Data Gathering Phase (2 hours): Executive Coach and Manager spend time together in one-on-one meetings to provide background information on the situation, to set specific management expectations and to receive coaching from Executive Coach on how to handle the employee moving forward as the coaching process begins. Initial Exploratory Meetings (3 hours): Executive Coach and Employee meet to discuss his/her view of what has contributed to the need for coaching, issues that have existed in the workplace and ideas on how situation could have been avoided. This is generally a series of sessions to allow the employee to "vent" his/her feelings. Define Objectives and Expectations (3 hours): Executive Coach and employee work to clarify company/business unit expectations, employee expectations of the process and measures to define success in the process. Identify strengths and areas for improvement. Management Feedback Session (1 hour): Executive Coach provides company management personnel with an initial assessment of the employee's willingness to actively participate in the process, prediction of likelihood of success and outline of objectives and expectations agreed upon between Executive Coach and Employee. Assessment of Behavior Tendencies and Interpretation (Optional 2 hours): Depending on the situation, Executive Coach will administer certain behavior instruments to provide employee with insight into his/her personality temperament, leadership style and "fit" for the position that they are currently functioning in. Reconfirm those areas that are clearly strengths and those in need of improvement. Modeling (7-9 hours): This phase is commonly referred to as a "lab" and comprises the major portion of the coaching process. During this series of sessions, the Employee works with the Executive Coach on specific workplace issues covering real world topics occurring in the workplace. Common topics include: effective management of personnel, building alliances with other work units, effectively managing upward, etc. Action Planning (2 hours): Determine a strategy with Employee on how to sustain improved individual management performance, leadership effectiveness and focused commitment to continuous improvement back on the job. |
